BC and Newfoundland/Labrador Approve TouchU Courses!
Posted October 5, 2009
The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) and the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMTNL) have just approved TouchU.ca courses!
The CMTBC has approved all Anatomy and Technique courses, as well as the Core Stabilization course. However, the Massage Theory and Practice courses When Headache is Ominous, Pain Measurment, Pregnancy Pillowing and Positioning and Influenza courses do not meet the current CMTBC CE criteria.
The CMTNL has approved all professional education courses at TouchU.ca (that is all courses outside of the Self Help courses).
This means all of the therapists in BC and Newfoundland and Labrador that have been taking courses out of pure interest may now be able to claim continuing education credit for their learning!

Fighting Influenza with Knowledge!
Posted September 23, 2009
With the return of H1N1 this fall, all health care professionals need to know as much as they can about influenza. Several provincial massage therapy associations have joined with TouchU.ca to provide an online influenza course for free to all of their members. The associations are the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA), Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan (MTAS) and the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists (ANBMT). The Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan (MTAS) already provides access to all the courses at TouchU.ca to all its members, and is encouraging its members to take this particular course at this time.
The TouchU.ca Influenza course addresses what influenza is, the course of the yearly epidemics which we are used to, and what a pandemic is. Methods of preventing the spread of influenza are covered in some detail. While the specifics of the H1N1 virus are not covered, the common characteristics of influenza are explored. Health care professionals wishing to know the latest information on the H1N1 virus and public health policy are referred to their provincial and national public health associations.
If you would like your provincial association and TouchU.ca to provide the Influenza course to you free of charge, contact your association today! There is no charge to your association for providing this service!
