Stretching

Stretching is the most common form of self care that massage therapists teach clients. Stretching can relieve tension from muscles and from our minds! It can restore flexibility and often drains pain away from our bodies.

While stretching may be second nature to our dog or cat, many of us have forgotten how to do this natural stress releaser. This means there is a lot to learn for many of us. For example in the stretch below, simply bending the knee focuses the stretch from the superficial calf muscle, the gastrocnemius to the second layer of muscle the soleus. The red lines show the location of the muscle being stretched.
